Spocott Windmill and Village
Travel back to the 19th century. See an actual post windmill in operation. Attend school in one of Dorchester County’s historic one-room schoolhouses. Visit the home of the legendary Adaline Wheatley. These and other buildings can be found in the Spocott Windmill and Village.
Begin with the Lloyd’s Country Store and Museum, once the store and post office for the community. Included is the office of US Senator George L. Radcliffe, close friend of Presidents Roosevelt and Truman. Beginning with the 1972 reconstruction of the original Spocott mill, the village that existed a century and a half ago has been reconstructed. The mill operates twice a year, but parts of the village are open to the public 365 days a year.
