Spocott Windmill

What? Windmill Foundation 50th Anniversary Celebration and Earth Day Activities

When? Saturday, April 23, 2022, 10 AM – 3 PM

Cost? Free Admission

In conjunction with our annual Earth Day celebration and windmill running, we will be commemorating the 50th year of the windmill operation. Built and dedicated in 1972, the windmill has undergone extensive maintenance, and we will both re-dedicate and run the mill that day. The day will be a great day for a family to come out, learn about our rich historical, cultural, and environmental legacy, enjoy some good food, and meet a lot of fascinating people. In addition to the usual running of the mill and tours, the day will include:

1)      Arbor Day tree giveaway

2)      Meet Adaline Wheatley, legendary cook and historical figure

3)      Environmental and historical exhibits

4)      Activities for children: crafts, games, scavenger hunt

5)      Craft Demonstrations

6)      Face Painting

7)      Music

8)     Tours of all buildings: windmill, Miller’s cottage, Castle Haven Schoolhouse, Country Store and Museum, Blacksmith shop

Food, parking, restrooms, and a good time will be available for all. There is no charge for admission. The day’s events will take place rain or shine.
